While John was hanging out with his friends I attended to some business at the Louisiana Music Factory and found our CD was filed under New Orleans - local music! |

On
Monday, our last night in town, we visited the Mid City Lanes (the Rock
and Bowl) to see our favorite New Orleans guitarist Snooks Eaglin. The
bass player showed up late and Snooks decided to make up for the delayed
start time by taking requests from the audience. I was stunned to hear
the first request: "Mustang Sally!" The man sometimes referred
to as the human jukebox, with numerous great recordings to his credit
was asked to play the simple-minded's national anthem. The next few
requests were no better as Snooks performed "I've Got My Mojo Working"
and other songs associated with the Blues Brothers. We did get to hear
some classic Snooks before the night was over and a good time was had
by all as we wound up our trip to New Orleans for the 2002 Jazz &
Heritage Festival. |
