Here
is the last message I sent out using the old e-list method that apparently
was being squashed by my own ISP

learning how this all works but I believe this link should get you

---------
We returned from a fabulous 12 days in Switzerland after performing
6 shows for the 2007 Keeping The Blues Alive award-winning Lucerne
Blues Festival. The shows were exceptionally well received
and we were treated like royalty. Numerous contacts were made and
we are waiting to see articles about the festival pop up in the many
publications in attendance. Willie did a nice interview with an English
Blues magazine and, most importantly, we were offered a date at the
2008 Porretta Soul Festival in Porretta Terme, Italy
- the premier Soul music festival in the world. Porretta is an old
roman spa town in the foothills of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. When
you perform at the festival you take via Otis Redding to the stage
in Rufus Thomas park - that is how crazy the town is for that old
Memphis/Stax sound!
While we were gone Big George Jackson held down our regular Wednesday
slot at the Eagles - thank you guys. The Eagles have
offered them a few more shows in January 4 and February 8. Unfortunately
you won't be able to make those dates because you'll be at McMahon's
watching us (see next item).
Our regular
Wednesday nights at the Eagles #34 continue
with special guests Willie Walker & Jim Greenwell - still NO COVER.
We are back to Winter hours, 7:30 -10 and for those of you who have
forgotten the address:
Eagles #34
2507 25th Street
Minneapolis
(612) 724-9714
The Eagles also have a new website with a schedule of bands:
http://minneapoliseagles34.org/index.html
Sometimes the schedule is almost close to being correct...
---------
We begin a new weekly NO COVER performance every Friday
at McMahon’s, formerly the Poodle, located
at:
McMahon’s
3001 East Lake Street
Minneapolis
(612) 722-1377
McMahon’s is an Irish bar with all the fine
beers and whisky you normally find but they also have a fine menu
that includes Irish faves fish & chips, stews, soups, boxty, champ...
as well as more American style steaks, burgers and wings. All made
by Dominic McMahon and the fine kitchen staff this will not be your
typical “buy it at Sam’s Club and pop it in the deep fryer”
style bar food. I hear from Bill Batson of the Mofos that this place
even has great salads.
The Butanes core rhythm section (Virgil, Robb, John
and Curt) will play every Friday from 9 - 1 (OK it
is The Butanes so we’ll probably never start at 9) and we may
add the occasional Saturday gig featuring Willie Walker or Maurice
Jacox or ... This probably won’t happen until February as John
will be making his annual pilgrimage to the Virgin Islands in January.
We have longtime Hoopsnakes/Lamont Cranston bassist Mick Massof lined
up to play with us until John returns. Mick will be filling in from
Wednesday, January 2 to Friday, January 18.
---------
We will begin work on a new recording after the first of the year.
All recording had been put on hold while there was construction next
to Haute Studio (AKA Curt’s house). We still have a large number
of songs laying about from our last recording session plus a bunch
of new material written since then to consider. We have hopes for
an early summer release but things never seem to work out as planned.
---------
We hope we fit into your plans soon.
